Chapter 6: Self Reflective Influential

Where I'm From

I am from the internet
from Spotify and youtube
I am from the little house
Old and Red
It feels like home
I am from the garden in my backyard,
the redwood tree in my front yard
Tall and rigid
I’m from Thanksgiving dinner and Saturday breakfast
from Biz and Charles
I’m from driving fast and being on time

From Santa Clause and The easter bunny
I’m from sleeping in on Sundays,
I’m from California,
Corn on the Cob and Ribs.
From the summers water skiing behind the boat
the road trips to Oregon.
Family Photos are stored on the server in the closet.

I am from freedom

Chapter 2: Influential, Self Reflective, Thematic

Step 1:

A social issue that directly affects me is the drought in California, which has been a major problem for the past few years. When I think of the drought I see low water levels, dead plants, and desolation. Water companies in California have started charging more for water, since we have a limited amount. People are asked to not water their lawns and take shorter showers.

Step 2:

The photos express a clear point of view to the effects of a drought. The photos have connections to the conceptual photography.

Step 3: Conceptual Photography

Step 4:

I will make a contact sheet with my finished work.

Chapter 3: Influential Self Reflective Thematic

My passion project is about black and white images. I included some HDRs because i find them intriguing. All of the images show a theme of black and white (except the middle one) and contrast.

Chapter 4: Self Reflective

The original shot i took was from September (notice digital clock). I liked the layout of the shot and i wanted to revisit the location because i thought i could make it better. A major difference in the different images is the different type of light. The original shot was in the summer sunlight, the new shots were taken in the harsh winter light.

Chapter 3: Self Reflective

I chose these images for my self reflection because I think these are two of my best shots yet. In the top image i am working on making a distinct focal point (the people). On the bottom image, I worked on composition and color (the shadows under the bridge).

Chapter 2: Self Reflective

Top: Casual Snapshot. I took this picture last weekend up in the mountains when my friend and i were riding dirt bikes.
Bottom: Artistic Image. I took this image from fort point under the golden gate bridge. Some aspects that i like about this photo are the composition of the support pillar on one side and the water on the other side and the contrast.

Chapter 1: Self Reflective

Left: I learned about the settings on my camera.
Right: I learned how to ride a dirt-bike.
